Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's surprise wedding was meant to be, well, a surprise — but thanks to one camera-happy celebrity, things didn't pan out that way.
Earlier this month, the couple made the spontaneous decision to tie the knot in Las Vegas after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. A lot of famous people were there, including brothers Kevin and Nick Jonas, as well as Khalid, Dan + Shay, and Diplo, who, unbeknownst to the newlyweds, was live-streaming the ceremony on Instagram. (See the clips below.)
Now, in a recent radio interview with his brothers, Jonas admits neither he nor his wife really gave the DJ permission to do that. When asked whether his pal "ruined" their wedding because of the broadcast, Jonas jokingly replied, "Diplo did. Yeah, he ruined it."
"I love Diplo, but he loves his 'gram more than a 13-year-old. He posts every five seconds. He literally, like, live-streamed with dog-face filters," Jonas added of the footage, which the record producer did in fact film for the world, though he and Turner have no hard feelings about it.
"We just laughed," he added. "We loved it. We thought it was ridiculous, and I just love that he was walking into the chapel and he was like, ‘going to hit this wedding real quick,' [on Instagram]."
Even so, the crooner and the actress are still planning their formal wedding — hopefully with a no-phones policy this time — over the summer. As for when and where the union will take place is anyone's guess, but the Game of Thrones star appeared to hint that France in July was "a pretty good guess" in a recent television appearance.
