With Pride month just around the corner, Lyft is expanding their app with a more inclusive interface.
As per Mashable, the ride-sharing app announced on Wednesday (May 29) that users can now add pronouns to their profile and choose from five different options, including: 1. They/Them/Theirs 2. She/Her/Hers 3. He/Him/His 4. My pronoun isn't listed 5. Prefer not to say. It's all part of their new "Two is Too Few" marketing campaign, which is set out to call out the gender binary engrained in our society. "There's a sense of community in our app," Lyft's soon-to-be-former chief marketing officer Joy Howard said in a phone call this week. She went on to emphasize that including the pronouns encourages safe, respectful, and pleasant conversation in shared trips or engaging rides.
Additionally, Lyft plans to to offer legal name change support services for trans or gender non-conforming drivers with the National Center for Trans Equality. Among those services include paperwork and about $200 in legal fees for name change documents. Click here for more information.
