A passenger on board an American Airlines flight from Dallas to London died after suffering an apparent heart attack. The passenger began to feel sick during the flight and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in Ottawa, Canada. The crew, along with a fellow passenger, provided medical care for the 52-year-old man until the plane arrived at the gate, where paramedics were waiting.

They attempted to revive the man, who has not yet been identified, but were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the airport.

American Airlines said the plane was refueled and continued its route to London.

"American Airlines flight 80, from Dallas Fort Worth to London Heathrow, diverted to Ottawa due to an ill passenger," the airline said in a statement. "The flight landed at 2:28 a.m. local time this morning, where medical personnel met the aircraft. You will need to check with medical personnel for any other details. Flight 80 re-fueled, and re-departed Ottawa at 4:36 a.m. local time, and is currently en route to London."
