If Deadland Ritual didn't turn heads with its first single last fall, the band's latest offering should do the trick.
The supergroup featuring singer Franky Perez alongside Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and longtime Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens, followed up its live debut this week with a new single, "Broken and Bruised."
Sorum tells Loudwire "Broken and Bruised" was the song that convinced the four to turn their jam sessions into band writing sessions, and it's no surprise why.
"It is the birth of a new band with new music, something we all strive for as artists and musicians, moving forward with a new sound linked to our past and where we came from," Sorum said. "I think 'Broken and Bruised' embodied that. The video is straight performance of four musicians doing what we do best, playing live rock 'n' roll."

The band's Hall of Fame rhythm section of Sorum and Butler shines throughout. The song unfolds with a slithering Sabbath-like verse groove, abetted by chromatic minor-key arpeggios. The chorus is catchy and uncompromising, and Stevens relishes the opportunity to to unleash a fiery solo over the bridge.
Deadland Ritual's debut single was the swaggering, bluesy "Down In Flames," released last December. Sorum says the band's live sets will be comprised of new songs, plus songs from the band members' respective pasts.
The band's Troubadour concert this week in Los Angeles was a warm-up gig for a run of concerts and festival dates in Europe in June.
