James Holzhauer is inching closer to Ken Jennings' record of $2,520,700 in total Jeopardy! winnings and could do it in half the time. On Thursday (May 30) night, Holzhauer notched his 31st victory, adding another $58,612 to his impressive total of $2,382,583. He will need to set a new single-day record if he wants to pass Jennings on Friday night. If he is unable to do that on Friday, he will likely set the record next week, barring a shocking loss.
Once Holzhauer passes Jennings, he will still have a ways to go to hold the title for most money won on Jeopardy!. That title currently belongs to Brad Rutter, who has managed to win $4,688,436 over the years by playing in various tournaments.
While Holzhauer appears likely to pass Jennings' winnings record, he still has an uphill battle to pass Jennings' streak of 74-consecutive victories.
