Moorpark DUI arrest

A man who was wanted on an active arrest warrant was taken into custody after a motorcycle officer spotted a fake license plate on the tractor-trailer he was driving, authorities said Tuesday.

"Recently, a motorcycle officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a tractor-trailer for a false license plate," a statement from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department announced on Tuesday. During the course of the motorcycle officer's investigation, he determined that the driver was under the influence of narcotics.

The fake license plate was painted black and yellow, reading "Califas" instead of "California" and was missing the area for the registration stickers. Once the officer spotted the counterfeit plate, he pulled the driver over.

"The driver was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, being an unlicensed driver, and having an active warrant for his arrest," the release added.

The department also stated that the man's tractor-trailer he had been driving was towed from the scene because it was unsafe to be driven.
