Shawn Mendes Says He Was Bullied In High School

Shawn Mendes may have tons of fans and success as an artist now, but things haven’t always been easy for him.
In a new post on his Instagram, he opened up about being bullied in high school, and encouraged his fans to follow their dreams.
Shawn recalls posting one of his first covers on YouTube in the 9th grade, and having kids in school yell, “sing for me Shawn sing for me!”
“In a way that made me feel absolutely horrible... made me feel like a joke, like what I was doing was just stupid & wrong,” he said. "Every single person deserves to do what makes them feel alive.”
"I want you to know that no matter how old you are, no matter who you are, no matter where you’re from... you deserve to follow your heart. Im here & i’m rooting for you.”
