Auto industry icon Lee Iacocca, known as the father of the Ford Mustang, passed away at the age of 94 on Tuesday of natural causes. Along with helping to create the legendary Ford sports car, Iacocca also spawned the Chrysler minivan.

During his lifetime, he was a major figure at two of the biggest automakers in the world. He first joined the Ford Motor Company in 1946, developed the Mustang and went on to become president of the company in 1970, until Henry Ford Jr. fired him in 1978. Chrysler picked him up in 1979 and made him their CEO. He saved them from bankruptcy. He wasn't just a businessman for Chrysler but also the star of their TV ads where he gained notoriety for his saying, "If you can find a better car, buy it." He retired from Chrysler in 1992.
