Authorities in Texas have identified the girl who was filmed licking a container of Blue Bell ice cream and returning it to the freezer at a Walmart in Lufkin. Police say they have spoken with her, but cannot release her identify because she is a minor. The girl is from San Antonio but was in Lufkin visiting her boyfriend's family. Officials have handed the case over to Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

"Because she is a juvenile offender, her identity is protected under section 58.104 of the Texas Family Code," said Jessie Pebsworth, public relations specialist for the Lufkin Police Department. "The case will be turned over to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department," Pebsworth.

It is unclear what charges she will face. Authorities previously said they were looking at charging her with tampering with a consumer product, a second-degree felony that carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. It is unclear if the fact that she is underage will result in lesser charges. She could also face federal charges.

A Walmart district manager was able to identify the store in the video and removed all containers of "Tin Roof" Blue Bell ice cream as a precaution.
