New details are emerging about Teen Mom star Amber Portwood's recent arrest. Portwood was taken into custody on Friday (July 5) after her boyfriend Andrew Glennon called the police. She was arrested on three felony charges, including domestic battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Radar Online obtained documents from Marion Superior Court that reveal the 29-year-old reality star wielded a machete against Glennon. “[Amber] struck the machete at and into a door, while Andrew Glennon was standing directly on the other side of the door, that created a substantial risk of bodily injury to Andrew Glennon,” the documents read.
The argument reportedly broke out after the couple's Fourth of July plans fell through. According to The Ashley's Reality Roundup, Portwood felt Glennon “dropped the ball” on plans to see fireworks with their 14-month-old son James.
The Ashley also obtained a copy of the Affidavit for Probable Cause filed in Indiana on Tuesday (July 9). “Mr. Glennon stated when he got inside the home, Ms. Portwood grabbed a shoe off the shoe rack and hit him with it. Mr. Glennon stated he was holding [the baby] and he turned to the side to avoid [the baby] getting hit with the shoe,” the affidavit states. “Mr. Glennon stated he then left [the house] again with [the baby].”
“Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood picked up a machete towards him and [the baby]," the affidavit continues. "Mr. Glennon stated he locked himself and [the baby] into the office. Mr. Glennon stated she hit the door with the machete and kicked the door and broke the handle. Mr. Glennon stated that is when he called for help.”
Glennon is now seeking full custody of their son, as well as a restraining order against Portwood. “Andrew is doing it as a protective measure to ensure whatever happens with upcoming court rulings, their son will have the best outcome regardless,” a source explained to Us Weekly. “Amber and Andrew still really care about each other and this is not the end of their relationship.”
TMZ reports Glennon has already met with Child Protective Services, and they plan to recommend he receive full custody of James. According to the documents obtained from that meeting, Glennon believes Portwood is "currently unable to provide a safe, stable, and secure environment for James on an ongoing basis due to her frequent refusal and/or failure to take medicines prescribed to treat her mental-health conditions, among other concerns."
