Miranda Lambert's Generosity Helps Animal Shelter Waive Adoption Fees

If you keep up with Miranda Lambert at all, you know she has a huge heart for not only country music, but also animals. Lambert founded the “MuttNation Foundation” in 2009, aiming to “promote and facilitate the adoption of shelter pets, encourage spay and neuter for all pets, and educate the public about the importance and beneficial impact of these actions,” according to the website. In 2015 MuttNation Foundation launched a yearly campaign, “Mutts Across America”, that awards $150,000 in grants to 50 shelters around the country. Since the start of the campaign, over $750,000 has been granted to more than 250 shelters. It’s safe to say the organization is making a positive impact all over the nation.

More recently, the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts is feeling the direct impact from MuttNation Foundation’s generosity. Lambert just recently made a surprise donation of a few thousand dollars to the Massachusetts shelter. This few thousand dollar donation went a long way, allowing the shelter the flexibility to waive the adoption fees. Lower fees means more people are inclined to adopt animals from the shelter. It seems as though the donation could not have come at a better time. Executive director, Maryann Regan, shared with TMZ that typically during summer time, the shelter’s lucky if it can get 2 animals into new homes each day. Now, with the donation and waived fees, the shelter is hopeful that they can double that rate and find more loving homes for the animals.

In a post on Scituate Animal Shelter’s Facebook page they shared, “There’s a reason dogs like country music. Thank you Miranda Lambert for your generous donation that allows SAS to waive adoption fees for a limited time. Lower fees= more dogs finding homes. We love you, Miranda!” The post goes on to express the perfect timing of the donation stating, “And it couldn’t have come at a better time. Summer is the slowest time for adoptions and we have a shelter that is absolutely full. Our pets are hoping against hope that you will come and take them home! Please come meet your new best friend today. Thank you Miranda Lambert.”

In addition to the Mutts Across America campaign, the organization holds various events, adoption drives, and fundraisers at concerts to help the cause. As if Lambert’s efforts with MuttNation Foundation weren’t enough, the singer also cares for eight, yes EIGHT, rescue dogs of her own. On top of her passion and love for animals, she’s also in the process of getting new music out. In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, she discussed her new upcoming album expected to drop this fall, although no official release date has been announced. Lambert describes the album as “old Miranda, but a Miranda at a whole new level, if that makes any sense.” She continues, “It’s not going to be love song overload or anything like that. I made a career on being a rock and roller and I think fans are going to hear that throughout. And yeah, there is this vibe of being happy that goes through this album. I am really, really happy.”

To say I’m excited to see what Lambert brings to the forthcoming album would be an understatement. In addition to the release of her new album, Lambert is also set to hit the road on her “Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour." She’s joined by special guests including the ladies of Pistol Annies, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack, Maren Morris, and Tenille Townes.
