You may want to stick with eating sushi at the restaurant because in the past week over FOUR different cases of fires have occurred because of the ingredients normally found in sushi rolls!
Apparently the cooking oils, especially soybean oil and canola oil, are known to have a propensity to self-heat under certain circumstances which can cause an environment for a fire to occur.
During one of the several investigations, Madison fire investigators learned that the tempura “Crunch” can ignite the oils at random. If you still want to make sushi at home officials suggest that your leave all the ingredients separated or at least but them on a baking sheet to cool and away from any linen.
Here is footage of one of the sushi incidents that cause a fire in an actual sushi restaurant!
