Bruce Springsteen "Hometown" Exhibit Opens In NJ This Fall

For decades, Bruce Springsteen has celebrated his home state and home town in his iconic music catalog.

This fall, Springsteen's home county is returning the favor in an exhibit looking at how Monmouth County has inspired, shaped and informed The Boss's art over the past 40-plus years.

"Springsteen: His Hometown" opens September 29, 2019, at the Monmouth County Historical Association (MCHA) in Freehold, NJ, and will run through the fall of 2020.

Among over 150 unique items co-curated by local historians, the exhibit will feature a personal scrapbook made by Springsteen's mother, Adele, and an original color poster from Springsteen's first local band, The Castiles. Historians even uncovered documents 19th century documents tracing The Boss's lineage back to American Revolution patriot John Springsteen.

"Springsteen remains an essential part of the fabric that comprises the deep history of Monmouth County," said President of the MCHA Board of Trustees Linda Bricker in a statement.

While Springsteen spent much of his childhood and early music career in nearby Asbury Park, NJ, he was born in Freehold.

The exhibit's opening coincides with the centennial of the borough.
