Two years ago, rapper Tay-K (real name is Taymor McIntyre) was arrested under suspicion of capital murder and aggravated robbery. Friday (July 19) brought a new update to his case as he has been found guilty of murder by a jury in Tarrant County, Texas and will be facing a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 99 years, as per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

In a new report by the newspaper, it was unveiled that jurors found the rapper, 19, guilty for his role in a home invasion that left 21-year-old father Ethan Walker dead and another man wounded. Additionally, jurors found the star guilty of aggravated robbery in the robbery and shooting of Zachary Beloate. Beloate was wounded but survived. Earlier in the week, McIntyre pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery related to two other victims inside the house. Meanwhile, he pleaded not guilty to capital murder in the death of Walker. When it came time for McIntyre’s defense attorneys, Jeff Kearney, Reagan Wynn and Rhett Parham, to share closing arguments, the pair said that he only participated in the robbery, was not armed with weapons, and had no idea that Walker would be killed by his co-conspirator, Latharian Merritt. "It wasn't part of the plan. The plan was robbery. Not killing," Kearney told jurors.

The rapper found a number of famous fans, including Donald Glover, who discussed the star in his profile for The New Yorker. "Tay-K was [16] and on the run for murder when he made this song [‘The Race’]. It’s a real Jesse James story," he said. "Look at this kid! He's a baby! He never had a chance! Y’all are forgetting what rap is. Rap is 'I don’t care what you think in society, wagging your finger at me for calling women "bitches"—when, for you to have two cars, I have to live in the projects. . . .Young black kid in Texas with a murder on him.... He's definitely going to die, and it's sad."
