Cole Sprouse And Lili Reinhart's Split Was 'Very Messy' And Unsurprising

Riverdale fans were devastated to learn Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart called it quits after two years of dating. Though the co-stars haven't addressed the split yet, details about their breakup are starting to emerge. Even though Cole and Lili seemed super friendly at Comic-con the other day, the end of their relationship was reportedly "very messy."

“Their friends didn’t really expect them to last in the long-run,” a source spilled to People. “At the end of the day, their personalities are very different and their lifestyles often clashed. Things have felt super heavy in the relationship for a while, and it got to be too much. They’re both very professional though and trying to be as amicable and friendly as possible.”

Another source told E! News that despite their "very messy breakup," Lili and Cole are "currently on much better terms" now than they were when they called it quits earlier this summer. "It seems [like] they could be heading back in the direction of getting together," the sourced added.

Lili has continued to share photos of Cole on her Instagram account since the split, including a video of them jumping on a trampoline with Riverdale co-stars KJ Apa and Camila Mendes and a photo with KJ and Cole at Comic-Con. Cole, on the other hand, hasn't shared a photo of Lili on his grid since May 10. He also disabled the comments on his page after news of their breakup was revealed.
