Michael Meyers and Laurie Strode aren't done yet. After the Halloween franchise was successfully revived in 2018, Jamie Lee Curtis announced on Friday (July 26) that she'll be returning for two more films. Like the franchise's longtime heroine, Laurie, these movies are hard to kill. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming sequels.
“It ain’t over till the fat lady sings,” Curtis wrote on Instagram alongside a promotional video announcing the sequels. "Well, my friends and fans....I’m just WARMING UP." The two sequels will premiere October 16, 2020 and October 15, 2021. The first will be titled Halloween Kills, while the third in the reanimated franchise will be titled Halloween Ends. Judy Greer and Andi Matichak have also signed on to reprise their roles as Laurie's daughter, Karen, and grand daughter, Allyson, in both sequels.
John Carpenter, who director the original 1978 Halloween film and executive produced the 2018 revival, shared the exciting news on Twitter, as well. "The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode isn't over," he wrote. This may surprise fans who saw the 2018 film as (spoiler alert) Michael appears to die at the end after being trapped inside Laurie's burning house. Longtime fans of the original movie, as well as the now retconned sequels, will know that Michael Meyers has gotten himself out of number of seemingly fatal situations in the past.
Further details have yet to be released, though the cast is set to start filming in North Carolina sometime in the near future. Are you excited to see Laurie and Michael face off two more times?
