65-Year-Old Lady Gets Tased By Cop After Refusing To Sign $80 Ticket

A routine traffic stop for a busted tail light ended up with an Oklahoma police officer using a taser on a 65-year-old woman. Debra Hamil was arrested and charged with felony assault on a police officer and one misdemeanor for resisting arrest after she attacked the cop following a brief chase.

The officer asked Hamil to sign an $80 ticket for having a broken tail light. She refused to sign the ticket and asked the officer why he couldn't just give her a warning.

"I don't think that I deserve to pay $80 for something that is fixable — and I can fix it if that's all you want me to do," she told him.

He explained that she told him earlier it had been out for six months and he wasn't willing to give her a warning because she ignored the problem for so long. After she refused to cooperate, the officer told her she was under arrest.

Hamil responded by stating that she is not under arrest, then she cursed him out, rolled up her window and drove away. The officer ran back to his vehicle and followed her to a nearby parking lot. He pulled out his gun and approached Hamil's truck.

The officer pulled her out of the driver's seat and tried to place her under arrest. She refused to go quietly and kicked him in the groin. The officer then deployed his taser and was finally able to handcuff Hamil.

She refused medical attention but was taken to the ER for an assessment. She was then brought to jail and released on a $10,000 bond. She faces up to five years in prison for the felony assault charge and one year in jail for resisting arrest.
