From offensive style and vulgar lyrics to the resurfacing of incriminating photos from decades past, there are many reasons that celebrities have been banned from countries all over the world. Katy Perry and Gigi Hadid were denied visas for a visit to China for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2017, Snoop Dogg was briefly banned from Norway for being traveling with marijuana, Lady Gaga was banned from Indonesia for her exuberant style which religious extremists deemed to be too vulgar, and the list goes on.

Banned from Malaysia for being deemed too provocative for their country, which is under strict Muslim leadership.

Banned from Argentina for disrespecting their flag during a concert and assaulting a photographer.

3. Katy Perry

Banned from China for wearing a Taiwanese flag and a sunflower gown, which Chinese officials claimed was symbolic of the Sunflower Student Movement — a protest against a Chinese trade agreement — in 2014. The sunflower is now seen as an anti-China symbol.

4. Snoop Dogg

Banned from Norway after being caught in possession of marijuana. The ban only lasted for two years.
