Passengers on a Spirit Airlines flight from North Carolina to New Jersey were spooked when a bat started flying around the cabin of the plane about 30 minutes after takeoff.
Peter Scattini shared a video of the bat flying through the dimly lit cabin on Twitter. As the bat flies through the aisle, one passenger starts running toward the back of the aircraft. The bat continued to fly through the cabin while a girl who was in the bathroom stared in shock as she peered out the door.
Some passengers seemed amused with the winged stowaway. One girl yelled, "it's the Batmobile" while another woman said "hi Batman" as the bat flew past her.
Here’s a crazy flight experience. A bat was on the plane headed to Newark. It came out while the plane was in the air. Luckily no one was hurt. One of the passengers caught it and put it in the bathroom. @karenhunter pic.twitter.com/lV0HgHptjY

The bat didn't get to fly around for very long. One of the passengers managed to trap the bat between a book and a cup and locked it in the bathroom until the plane safely landed in New Jersey.
It is unknown how the bat managed to get on board the aircraft, and Spirit Airlines has not commented on the incident.
