Rosalia and Ozuna were just a few of the acts to represent the Latin movement at Monday night's (August 26) MTV Video Music Awards, which was hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco. For the pair's performance, the duo brought a sizzling rendition of their new collab, "Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi," and made sure to raise the heat of the evening to higher temperatures.
For the number, which preceded an introduction by the Hadid sisters, the pair offered Newark's Prudential Center, as well as live TV audiences, with a sultry rendition of the mid-tempo track, which combines Puerto Rico's urban sensibility and the songstress' signature flamenco flairs. Similar to the song's video, the set was a visual feast, with the singer and rapper donning matching black outfits. However, Rosalia knew she needed to deliver more, so after a brief pause, her set transitioned from "Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi" to "Aute Cuture" and just like that, a batch of new fans were made.
Prior to her number, Rosalia teased her set via social media, sharing a photo of her VMA advertisement in Times Square. "I’ll be performing next monday the 26th no puedo esperarrrr," she captioned the shots alongside emojis. Meanwhile, the singer also gained traction on the nomination front with an honor in the Best New Artist category and several titles for her J Balvin and El Guincho collab, "Con Altura." The trio's team-up was recognized for Song of Summer, Best Choreography and Best Latin. They won the latter.
Expect even more collaborations from Rosalia as the the rising star has a track with Billie Eilish in the works. As per separate interviews from the stars, the two started to work on a song with one another and couldn't be more impressed by their session. "She’s an artist with such a strong drive, who knows exactly who she is and what she wants, who pours her soul out when she sings," Rosalia told Rolling Stone in late May. "I've been in the studio with a lot of people, but no one has impressed me [the way] she has."
