Yoga is a relatively safe practice. Usually, the worst that can happen is pulling a muscle if you don't stretch properly. However, extreme yoga is a different story and a 23-year-old in Mexico learned that lesson the hard way. Alexa Terrazas Lopez was doing some risky positions, including one where she hung from a sixth floor balcony by her legs, when she lost her balance and plummeted to the ground 80 feet below her.

An image of Alexa in the dangerous position on her balcony has been circulating online, but there is no word on if it was taken just before she fell or during a different extreme yoga session.

Alexa miraculously survived the fall but surgeons had to spend 11 hours reconstructing her leg, and according to El Sol de Mexico, she may not be able to walk again for three years. Meanwhile, Infobae reports that Alexa suffered more than 100 fractures and is in a medically induced coma, which she will stay in for two weeks. She also injured her arms, hips and nose.

For help with the upcoming surgery, her friends and family are asking anyone with type A-positive blood to donate, explaining, "She doesn't need any more blood, but she does need platelets. It's a painful and sad life lesson."

Alexa isn't a stranger to death-defying poses. Neighbors told El Imparcial that they'd seen her doing dangerous stunts on the edge of the balcony before. She's also jumped from helicopters and done zip lines upside down.

Her city's attorney general is investigating the incident but already stated that the rail did not have any structural damage.
