The Best NFL Stadiums For Tailgating
August 29, 2019
Football season is right around the corner, and while we are all looking forward to watching our teams play this season, there is nothing like a good pre-game tailgate. At times the best part of game day, tailgating is the best time to hang out with other fans of your favorite football team, enjoy an ice cold beer, BBQ and party a little before kickoff.
In no particular order, here are some of the best NFL stadiums for tailgating.
1. Lambeau Field
Green Bay Packers
If you're a huge fan of football, Lambeau is one spot to put on your tailgate bucket list. After all, it is one of the most famous and historic football fields of all time. Coolers are filled to the brim with ice cold beer and there are friendly tailgaters all around. The best part of tailgating before a Packers game is the Tundra Tailgate Zone, a tent with live music and entertainment.
2. Mile High Stadium
At Mile High, Broncos fans are usually open to anyone joining in on their tailgate. And with Mile High Mountain Village, fans with a ticket are able to enjoy food, drinks and even watch other NFL teams that are playing that day.
3. Gillette Stadium
New England Patriots
With some of the most passionate fans and the best clam chowder around, it is not hard to see why some Pats fans miss the big game in favor of tailgating. There is also a shopping center connected to Gillette Stadium called Patriot Place where you can shop, dine and drink before or after the game.
4. FirstEnergy Stadium
Beer can chicken, plum brandy, fried turkey, and chili are just some of the vast food offerings at a Browns tailgate. In 2018, when the team beat the New York Jets 21-17 for their first win since 2016, Bud Light unlocked coolers of free beer they had scattered around the city. Cleveland clearly knows how to party— but beware, as Browns fans don't always take too kindly to those wearing the Away team's jerseys.
5. Hard Rock Stadium
With a new and improved stadium, Miami fans definitely have something to celebrate. While you will still see fans grilling their traditional hot dogs and hamburgers, since you are in sunny Miami, expect no shortage of Cuban food. What is most unique about Hard Rock Stadium is Uber's first of its kind tailgating area, aptly named the "Uber Zone". Spots are held for Uber riders to tailgate without having to bring a car.
6. Mercedes-Benz Superdome
New Orleans Saints
The Mercedes Benz Superdome is certainly worth checking out, as it is not your typical parking lot tailgate. At their tailgate zone, called Champions Square, you will find food and live entertainment, plus clubs and other restaurants right around the area.
7. Oakland Alameda County Coliseum
When fans line up their RVs the night before a game, you know it's going to be a good tailgate. With passionate fans and an abundance of food, a Raiders tailgate isn't one to miss.
8. Arrowhead Stadium
Kansas City Chiefs
Fans in Kansas City are known to start tailgating 48 hours before kickoff. When you tailgate with Kansas City fans, you can expect lots of bacon, homemade BBQ sauce, must-try brisket, themed vans and plenty of music. Arrowhead boasts a huge parking lot with plenty of room for your grills, BBQ pits and coolers.
9. NRG Stadium
At NRG, Houston fans tailgate before and after games. You can find any type of beef imaginable and extremely friendly fans.
10. Lincoln Financial Field
Eagles fans are passionate about their team and their tailgates. There are groups of regulars that have given themselves official names and painted vans that have occupied the same spot at the field’s parking lot for years. There are many tailgaters that just come for the party and don’t stay for the game. Don’t forget to find a Philly Cheesesteak!
