Adam Lambert is preparing to release the first part of his new project, Velvet: Side a, at the end of the month, and has officially released its first single: "Superpower."
Stylistically, "Superpower" captures the music from the 70s, and to go along with that aesthetic, the "Superpower" music video also captures the spirit of that time, from the visual's wardrobe (hello platform shoes & colorful suits!), all the way down to the car Adam drives down the street.
Lambert let iHeartRadio in on the making of the "Superpower" music video in an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip. Fans can see how Adam filmed the scene while driving in his convertible, throwing off his wig, how the dancers rehearsed on the sidewalk, the singer flawlessly pulling off his dance moves while rocking some very high platform boots (seriously, how does he do it?!), and more.
To sum it all up:
Velvet follows Lambert's 2015 full-length album The Original High and two previous 2019 singles, "Welcome to the Show" and "Two Fux," and has been "four years in the making" (according to a post on the singer's Instagram). The project is set be released in two parts, the first being Side a which will be released on September 27th, and features six new songs in total, including "Superpower." The second part of his project does not have a release date yet.
In an interview with Hunger Magazine, Lambert said of his new music, "I believe in the music so much, I feel like I've followed my instincts and my intuition more than I ever have" Lambert added, "Overall the album has more of an organic feel and you can hear all the instruments in it – I wanted to get on stage with a four-piece band and play. It’s not dependent on computerized sounds, there’s a lot more instruments going on."
