Watch out, Tinder. Facebook launched an in-app dating service in the United States on Thursday (August 5) and it might just help you find true love. So, how do you use Facebook Dating? Well, it's built right into the existing Facebook app so it's fairly easy to navigate. Don't worry, though: the app isn't going to try to set you up with your existing Facebook friends. The pool of potential suitors will be pulled from other Facebook users who have opted to use the service, as well.
If you've used other popular dating apps, such as Tinder and Bumble, navigating Facebook Dating will be a breeze. The design is fairly similar to most dating apps currently in existence. The one major difference? No swiping. Instead, Facebook opts for a feed that's easy to scroll through. This feature makes it similar to Instagram, as well.
According to Business Insider, Facebook Dating shares some design aspects with popular dating app Hinge. Business Insider reports "users can express interest to a potential match by either liking their profile or commenting on a photo or other aspect of their profile." Facebook Dating will also let you know when other users show interest in your profile, so, you can decide if you want to reach out.
Setting Facebook Dating apart from other dating apps, though, is that you'll be able to see if you have any mutual friends on the social media app with the person you've matched with. Facebook Dates also takes advantage of their social media platform with the "Secret Crush" feature. This feature lets users secretly add nine of their Facebook friends to a special list that signifies to Facebook you have a romantic interest in them. You will be notified if one of those people has also added you to their "Secret Crush" list.
Users will also be able to add their Instagram photos to their Facebook Dating profiles. According to Facebook, users will be able to add their Instagram Stories to their Facebook Dating profiles, as well, by the end of the year.
Will you be giving this dating service a try?
