"I am so excited to share such a personal part of my story with one of the best male vocalists in our format," Pearce says. "Lee has the kind of gruff yet vulnerable quality to his sound that I envisioned for this duet, and [I] am grateful he agreed to join me. She adds, "This song is raw and real, truly something I think many people around the world will relate to."
Brice also opened up about the new collaboration at a recent media event sharing that his part of "I Hope You're Happy Now" was recorded while on the road touring. He adds that the song has "got a little bit of a throwback to '90s country...like it's a country song."
He continues adding, "It has a little hipper mix than, say, a '90s mix, but it's a country song, and I really love that about it. It's got this purity to it, and the message is just a pure country song message."
Pearce has yet to announce when her sophomore album will be released, although we do know it's been completed. Her previous single, "Closer To You" is the first track from the forthcoming album.
