Country Star Josh Turner’s Tour Bus Involved In Fatal Crash

Country-gospel singer Josh Turner's road crew was involved in a fatal bus accident late Wednesday night (September 18), Tennessean has confirmed.

According to the Associated Press, a passenger bus carrying Turner’s crew crashed in Shandon, California, while traveling eastbound on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County, leaving one dead and seven injured. Two of the passengers sustained major injuries and five suffered moderate injuries, the news outlet reported this morning (September 19).

Neither Turner nor his band were on the bus. Before the tragedy, Turner had just finished playing a concert at the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles.

SLO officials told USA Today the tour bus drove off the road, adding that the star and his bandmates were “in different buses and not injured.” Per his tour schedule, Turner’s next concert show is set for Friday (September 20) at the Central Washington State Fair.

The South Carolina-born star moved to Nashville, where he attended Belmont University to pursue a career in music. After graduating, he made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry, where he premiered "Long Black Train," the record which, two years later, would become the titular breakout single of his first studio album of the same name.

Since the crash, the California Fire Department in San Luis Obispo has release pictures on Twitter showing the wreckage site, to which firefighters responded just before midnight.
