A New York City man is dead after he jumped in front of a moving train while holding his five-year-old daughter during rush hour on Monday (September 23) morning. The young girl was alert and crying after the terrifying incident. She suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Two other people suffered minor injuries when they ran over to help the girl once the train had come to a stop on the elevated tracks at the station. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Dramatic video captured the Good Samaritans pulling the girl out from underneath the train and lifting her back up onto the platform.

Officials say they are treating the incident as a suicide but are unsure why the 45-year-man jumped in front of the southbound 4 train. Train service was suspended for nearly two hours while authorities investigated the tragic event.
