President Donald Trump mocked teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg in a late-night tweet after she ripped world leaders for not doing enough to deal with climate change. The president replied to a tweet featuring a video of Thunberg's comments during a climate change panel at the United Nations in New York City, saying, "she seems like a happy young girl."

"She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

In the video, the 16-year-old holds back tears as she tells world leaders they have "stolen my dreams and my childhood" for failing to take any meaningful action to deal with climate change.

"People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth," she said.

Trump made a brief appearance at the climate summit, though the United States did not participate in it. Cameras captured Thunberg staring angrily at the president as he spoke with reporters. He only stayed for about 15 minutes before leaving to attend an event focused on religious freedom.

Thunberg didn't respond to Trump's tweet directly. Instead, she updated her Twitter bio to read: "A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future."
