Michael Ray doesn't need a full production demo when it comes to picking a hit song.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Michael revealed how an iPhone recording led him to record a Travis Denning and Brett Beavers' song, "Her World Or Mine."
"It was just the work tape. It wasn't even the demo. It was them in the room, like, seconds after they finished it," laughed Michael. "I tell writers all of the time, if you are writing something and you think you want to send it, just send it. I don't have to have a full production demo."
Although Michael was listening to a low-quality iPhone recording of the song, his instincts knew that he had stumbled onto something special. "I think songs, especially songs like "Her World Or Mine," sometimes the writers are in the moment, and they just capture something cool."
"Travis didn't know that I even had it. So, when I saw him, and I was like, "Dude, I gotta know something. "There's a car outside where one of us used to park," did you write that line?" I'm recording that song, so if you had thoughts of anyone else, get that out of your head."
