All we want for Christmas is for Liam Payne to keep singing sweet songs in our ears.
The pop star debuted a lyric video to accompany the release of his early holiday track, “All I Want (For Christmas),” which — in case you’re wondering — shouldn’t be mistaken as a rendition of Mariah Carey’s iconic “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” In Payne’s record is far more somber, as the musician croons of wanting to save his broken relationship with his beloved.
“Tell me, where did we go wrong?/ We should be singing Christmas songs/ Instead of shouting all night long like we do,” Payne opens the piano ballad, leading to the emotionally-charged chorus: “If we can make it through December/ Maybe we’ll make it through forever/ ‘Cause all I want for Christmas/ Is you and me to fix this.”
“All I Want (For Christmas)” is the latest offering to appear off Payne’s upcoming debut album, LP1, after the previously-released single “Stack It Up” featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. “So I can finally reveal that my new album LP1 will be out on 6th December!” he announced in a statement earlier this week. “I’m so happy with it and I’m sorry it’s taken longer than planned. … I can’t wait to share the album with you with you all.”
