Duane Chapman was in tears all day as he honored his late wife Beth Chapman’s birthday this week.

According to TMZ, the Dog the Bounty Hunter star couldn’t keep from crying as he remembered the love of his life on what would have been her 52nd birthday this Tuesday (October 29). Insiders close to Dog say he took the day “especially hard” while spending the entire occasion inside and alone in their hometown of Denver.

The outlet reports the 66-year-old spent his time reflecting on moments with Beth as he pored over old images of the lovebirds together as well as those with family. Despite his mourning, Dog didn’t exhaust the occasion entirely in isolation, as sources said he did contact their children as well as wife’s friends to talk about the positive memories they enjoyed with her. Dog even took to Instagram with a special tribute in Beth’s memory. “There will never be another like you. Happy birthday Beth! We [heart] you!” he captioned a video post of Beth from their reality show, Dog’s Most Wanted.

As fans know, Beth died on June 26 after a long fight with Stage 2 cancer. Her passing came less than a week after she was placed in a medically-induced coma over the summer amid her cancer battle. Reasonably so, Dog has been struggling to cope with the loss, and previously admitted the grief had taken a toll on his personal health.

Just three months after Beth’s death, Duane revealed during an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show that he had been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. He had just suffered a heart-related medical emergency several weeks prior. Since his diagnosis, Dog said he's been on the road to recovery with the help of “blood thinners, a healthy diet" and "making strides towards kicking his smoking habit.”
