Man Arrested For Allegedly Handing Out Razor Blades with Halloween Candy

Police in Connecticut have arrested a 37-year-old man on Halloween after razor blades were discovered in at least two candy bags of trick-or-treaters, authorities said.

According to the Waterbury Police Department, officers received two complaints of razor blades being discovered in the candy bags of children trick-or-treating in the Waterbury area, which is located about 35 miles southwest of Hartford, Connecticut.

Jason A. Racz, 37, was arrested after investigators determined the blades had come from the same house. The razor blades were not found in any candy, but rather among the candy being handed out.

"Racz explained that the razor blades were accidentally spilled or put into the candy bowl he used to hand out candy from," police said in a statement, saying Racz, "provided no explanation as to how the razor blades were handed out to the children along with the candy."

During the course of their investigation, police determined a 3-year-old living at the home had access to a box of razor blades at Racz's residence.

According to the report, Racz had to be restrained as he was booked, according to police. The 37-year-old has been c harged with risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment, and interfering with a police officer.

No injuries have been reported related to this incident. Police are asking all residents in the area to check their children's candy and if it appears to have been tampered with, or foreign objects are found, to contact police.

Racz is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
