A Colorado woman was arrested on Friday after she allegedly tried to shoot her neighbor with a crossbow.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KUSA-TV, Katherine Cherry, 60, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault and menacing after the confrontation at her apartment complex in Longmont early Friday morning. The incident began after Cherry went to the victim's door at around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, knocking on the door and yelling about how she "wants her son back" and about someone named "Russell." The victim did not interact with Cherry at this time, but got up and saw her through the peephole on the door.

Then about an hour and a half later, Cherry returned to her upstairs neighbor's apartment and began yelling again, the affidavit states. This time, the victim told Cherry she'd "better run," as she opened the door to her apartment. That's when Cherry "stuck a black crossbow through the door and fired an arrow at her," the document states. The arrow struck the victim and went down the hallway in her apartment.

The document states the victime "felt in fear of her life when she saw the crossbow," the station reported.

The neighbor called 911 after swinging a hammer at Cherry whom she believed was "crazy." The victim slammed the door in Cherry's face, who left, the affidavit states.

Officers arrived on scene and attempted to contact Cherry, who told them she had been "sleeping" and had "heard a noise outside and thought to call." Cherry was taken into custody and charged. After being read her rights, she told officers she believed "Russell" had been located in the apartment above her. However, she did not mention whether she went upstairs.
