Kelsea Ballerini proved why she was nominated for female vocalist of the year at the 2019 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 13).
Before kicking off a girl-powered performance of Little Big Town's "Girl Crush," Kelsea played a stripped-down acoustic version of her recent single "Homecoming Queen?" While singing the powerful and emotional ballad, which is the lead single off her upcoming third album, Kelsea pulled on audiences heartstrings with her moving lyrics, singing, "What if I told you the world wouldn't end / If you started showing what's under your skin / What if you let 'em all in on the lie / Even the homecoming queen cries."
The 26-year-old singer then effortlessly transitioned into the start of "Girl Crush," where she was joined onstage by Lindsay Ell. Following their epic duet, the two were then joined by a number of country stars including, Lady Antebellum, Ashley McBryde, Maddie & Tae, Carly Pearce, Runaway June, and, of course, Little Big Town.
To close out the unforgettable performance of "Girl Crush," LBT's Karen Fairchild proclaimed that all the artists on stage were "future of country music."
