2019 MTV Video Music Awards - Roaming Show

Taylor Swift will reportedly be allowed to perform songs from her Big Machine Label Group canon at the 2019 American Music Awards.

According to Billboard, the record label has “agreed to grant all licenses of their artists’ performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms.” Furthermore, a statement from BM adds: “It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media. Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists' audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed."

This statement comes less than a week after Swift penned an open letter claiming BM's new owner, Scooter Braun, and CEO Scott Borchetta kept her from performing tracks from her old catalogue at this year’s awards show, where she will be honored as Artist of the Decade. The alleged ban, Swift said, would also impact an upcoming Netflix documentary based on the songstress’ life.

Apparently, Borchetta gave her an ultimatum: these projects would be approved so long as she agreed not to re-record her BM canon next year as planned.

Musicians like Selena Gomez, Halsey, Sara Bareilles and more spoke out in solidarity of Swift.

As it stands, the “You Need to Calm Down” singer-songwriter has neither confirmed her AMAs appearance nor has her rep responded to BM's latest statement. To clarify, dick clark productions has since stated it had no involvement in BM's statement about Swift’s performance.

The American Music Awards kicks off at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 24, on ABC.
