Introducing the new King of Pop! The man set to put his moonwalking skills to the test in the Michael Jackson broadway musical has been cast!
Ephraim Sykes will play the late Michael Jackson in the upcoming production, saying that playing this part is his “wildest dream coming true”.
“I’ve been dying to share this news for months now,” Ephraim wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of him with a painting of Michael.
“My ACTUAL wildest dream is coming true. All I can say is thank you Lord. Thank you to my family and friends that prayed and continue (please continue) to pray for me…that life me up and told me I deserve to be here even when I didn’t/don’t believe it.
“I’ll do my best to honour the man who made me wanna sing and dance in the first place. Love you MF, love yell! L-O-V-E.”
Sykes is no stranger to the broadway stage, and is currently appearing gin Ain’t Too Proud- The Life and Time of The Temptations, which he has received both a Grammy and Tony nomination for.
He’s also played roles in Hamilton, Newsies and Memphis and appeared in NBC’s 2016 production of Hairspray Live!
MJ the Musical is set to explore Michael’s life and career while playing some of his greatest hits, including Thriller, Billie Jean, Man in the Mirror and The Way You Make Me Feel.
The musical comes after the release of the shocking HBO documentary Leaving Neverland which highlighted multiple allegations of child sexual abuse against Michael.
The Jackson family have consistently denied the allegations and spoken out against the documentary.
