The debut of Tesla's brand new all-electric truck did not quite go as planned on Thursday after a demonstration of the futuristic car's 'bulletproof" windows went catastrophically wrong.
The promotional event held in Los Angeles, and streamed live on YouTube, was meant to show off the "Cybertruck," the sixth all-electric vehicle that CEO Elon Musk has touted as "bulletproof" against a 9 mm handgun.
During the event, Musk, alongside Tesla's chief designer, Franz Von Holzhausen, attempted to prove the futuristic truck's durability with a few demonstrations. Things appeared promising as Von Holzhausesn swung a sledgehammer at the side of the truck, which was able to withstand the impacts without leaving a scratch.
However, when the chief designer picked up a metallic ball (about the size of a tennis ball), and chucked it at the pickup truck's driver side window, audible shock from the audience could be heard as it smashed the window.
"Oh my f***ing God," Musk could be heard uttering.
"Maybe that was a little too hard," Musk added, opting for a second test on the rear driver-side window, which was also smashed in by the impact of the metal ball.

"We threw wrenches, we threw everything even literally the kitchen sink at the glass and it didn’t break. For some weird reason, it broke now," Musk said, drawing laughs. "I don’t know why. We will fix it in post."
Video of the event was set to private on YouTube shortly after it concluded. Shortly after the demonstration aired, #Cybertruck became the number two trending topic on Twitter, and the tweets were filled with jokes and memes at Tesla and Musk's expense.
