The next era of Dua Lipa has officially started. The 24-year-old pop star brought her new single 'Don't Start Now' to the American Music Awards on Sunday (November 24) and there was some major disco vibes. Needless to say, the whole performance was completely epic.
While the song itself is influenced by disco music, Dua's glam, ensemble and choreography took inspiration from the '70s, as well. She even incorporated a giant disco ball as part of her performance set. Dua's performance made it clear that her new sound and upcoming album are worth the wait.

'Don't Start Now' is definitely a departure from the sound on her debut album. When she dropped her latest single, she explained why she decided to make this shift. “I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and startanother,” she explained. “Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”
If Dua's American Music Awards performance is any indiction, there are definitely many more bops headed out way. Until then, though, we'll be watching this disco-inspired performance on repeat.
