Arts and crafts retail chain A.C. Moore announced that they would be closing all of their stores across the country. A.C. Moore's parent company, Nicole Crafts, said A.C. Moore has "decided to exit its retail operations" and will reveal specific plans to shutter all 145 stores in the coming weeks. Forty of the stores will be taken over by The Michaels Companies Inc, which is the largest arts and crafts retailer in North America.

"For over 30 years, our stores have been servicing the creative community with a vast selection of art and craft materials, with one common focus, the customer. Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today's environment, it made it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a National level," Anthony Piperno, Chief Executive Officer of A.C. Moore said in a statement.

A.C. Moore has halted online orders but said they would fulfill all orders that have already been placed.

The company did not say which locations will be taken over by Michaels.
