Yawning Baby

Authorities in Florida have launched an investigation after a woman offered to sell her baby on Craigslist. The woman said that she would provide formula and clothing for the two-week-old child. In addition to her newborn, she also offered to include the infant's four-year-old sister for free.

The woman said that she lives in a "quiet influential neighborhood" in Kendall, Florida, which is about 15 miles from Miami. She claimed that she works for the "department of children and families" and said that she doesn't "wanna be judged for not wanting these kids."

Gretl Plessinger, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, told NBC News that they are interviewing persons of interest in the case, but could not elaborate further because it is an active investigation. According to the Miami Heraldofficials interviewed one woman, who denied any involvement in making the post. Investigators are working to obtain computer records in an effort to identify the person who made the post.

Authorities are unsure if the post was a genuine attempt to sell a child, or if it was just a hoax.
