Ed O'Brien is the latest Radiohead member to embark on a solo journey. Last week, the guitarist announced he'd be releasing his debut solo album under the moniker "EoB" next year. He initially introduced us to his solo material in October with the track "Santa Teresa" and last week gave us a first taste of the upcoming album with the nearly 9-minute-long track "Brasil."
"The recording of the album started in the fall of 2017 and we finished it earlier this year," he wrote in a lengthy Facebook post announcing the project. "It’s been an amazing journey, gathering all these great musicians, sound engineers and producers together. Not always easy and definitely not without its challenges… But that feels like the right and only place to be…. And now it’s soon to be released… I’m going to tour this record properly… So we’ll be out there in 2020 and hope to see you at some of the shows. This feels like the start of something new and truly significant for me… It has felt like a calling… I have to do this…"
Although O'Brien hasn't revealed the title or release date of the album, on Monday (December 9) he announced the first slew of shows in Toronto, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, with more to follow.
