Students at Texas A&M University-Commerce were told to shelter in place after three people were shot inside Pride Rock Residence Hall. Two people were killed, and a third person was taken to the hospital. Officials did provide details about their condition or released the identity of the two deceased students. It is unknown if the suspect is still on the loose.

Authorities have placed officers around the campus as they investigate the deadly shooting. Classes at the college were canceled for the remainder of the day, and nearby schools were also placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The campus lockdown was lifted about two hours after the shooting, but the dorm remains cordoned off as police continue to investigate.

Pride Rock Residence Hall is a three-story dorm where mostly first-year students live.
