At last week's NFL press conference, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were asked if they'd be paying tribute to Kobe Bryant during their Super Bowl LIV halftime show and the latter acknowledged that they had something special up their sleeves. Unfortunately, many were disappointed at how subtle the nod was to the late, great NBA icon and others, well, just missed it entirely.

On Monday (February 3), the 14-minute pop spectacle was the talk of the town, whether folks were discussing Shakira's viral tongue moment, Lopez's ode to her Hustlers film on the stripper pole or the light political references snuck into the dazzling set. However, the Bryant tribute was also a topic of discussion, with many disappointed that the tribute wasn't bigger. If you missed out on the ode to the famed icon, who died in a helicopter crash, alongside his 13-year-old daughter and others, the pop titan's set featured a cross that lit up in yellow and purple as symbolism for the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers. The moment occurred shortly after Lopez's daughter Emme appeared on-stage to sing a ballad version of "Let's Get Loud."

"We'll all be remembering Kobe on Sunday and we'll be celebrating life and celebrating diversity in this country," Shakira previously told a room of reporters ahead of the championship game. "I'm sure he would be very proud to see the message that we're going to convey on stage that day."

Meanwhile, the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida paid tribute by scheduling a moment of silence into the agenda and lighting up the exterior of the venue to mirror those same colors. Scroll on below to see those moments and rewatch the halftime show for the blink-or-you'll-miss-it aerial shot.
