At the D23 Expo back in August, Disney announced they've acquired a second private island in the Bahamas: Lighthouse Point. Like Disney's first private island Castaway Cay, Lighthouse Point will be an exclusive port for Disney Cruise Line ships. Disney hopes oto have Lighthouse Point ready for their Cruise Line guests by late 2022 or early 2023.

According to Travel & Leisure, Lighthouse Point is located on the "island of Eleuthera and will pay homage to Caribbean music, art, and food while highlighting conservation efforts through the Disney Conservation Fund." Imagineer Joe Rohde—who designed Animal Kingdom, as well as multiple World Showcase pavilions in Epcot and Auliani resort in Hawaii—will be designing this new project.

"The Bahamas offers a fascinating multicultural tradition of food, music, dance, and storytelling," Rohde said in a press release. "Eleuthera, in particular, is home to many artists, and we will be working with painters, sculptors, writers, storytellers, musicians, weavers, and artists of every kind, much like we did with Aulani in Hawaii, to create a completely unique experience that is rooted in Bahamian culture and imbued with Disney magic."

Disney also shared renderings of what the finished resort is expected to look like (pictured above). The renderings reveal Lighthosue Point will have bungalow-style suites, restaurants and entertainment venues, plenty of greenery, and lots of white sand beaches for guests to enjoy. There will also be an "adventure camp" with hiking trails for visitors to explore.

Though Disney purchased the entire island, the House of Mouse reportedly only plans to develop twenty percent of the land. The remaining undeveloped land will be donated to the Bahamian government.
