Three years after she entered remission, Shannen Doherty revealed her breast cancer returned and is now stage four. "It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways," the 90210 actress said of her relapse on Good Morning America in early February. “I definitely have days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Well, why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do.”

Over the past month, Doherty has been open with fans about her situation, including her decision to shift to a healthier lifestyle to help combat her illness. She took to Instagram on Sunday (March 1) to share some of the changes she's made with her followers. "After a year of dealing with cancer coming back and other stresses, I’m back at it. Taking care of myself and embracing every day. It’s not always easy. I have days I’m depressed or just plain lazy," Doherty wrote.

"But I push thru with the help of friends. [Anne Marie Kortright] has been relentless in getting me to hike and learning new ways to cook that feed my soul as well as my tummy but in a very healthy way," Doherty continued. "She along with [Oren Zroya] and [Malibu Rad Kitchen] have made cooking healthy fun and sustainable. If that wasn’t enough.... Annemarie brought in [Kira Stokes] to kick my butt yesterday! It’s been a productive great week. I feel better. My skin is alive and so am I."

Doherty decided to open up about her relapse after her diagnosis was revealed via court documents from her ongoing legal battle with State Farm. "I'd rather people hear it from me," the actress told Good Morning America in February. "I don't want it to be twisted; I don't want it to be a court document. I want it to be real and authentic and I want to control the narrative. I want people to know from me."

The opening lines of Doherty's complaint against State Farm reads: "Plaintiff Shannen Doherty is dying of stage 4 terminal cancer" and alleges she is unable to live "her remaining years peacefully in her home" because of the damage incurred during the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
