Fashion designers Christian Siriano and Brandon Maxwell are using their talents to assist those impacted by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
The Project Runway stars are joining forces to answer the dire need for health care supplies for hospital workers battling the wide-spreading virus in New York. Earlier this week, Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed the state — which has over 12,300 cases of COVID-19 to date — is scrambling to find more protective equipment for medical staff.
Hours later, Siriano pledged to offer his team and resources to make more masks and gowns for New York amid the health crisis. "If @NYGovCuomo says we need masks my team will help make some. I have a full sewing team still on staff working from home that can help,” tweeted Christian, who later shared a video on social media showing the prototypes.

Following suit, Maxwell also took to his social media accounts to announce he and his team will be sewing personal protective equipment from home to support the cause. "We have spent the last week researching the appropriate medical textiles to create these gowns and are proud to provide these much needed items to the doctors and nurses on the front lines of this crisis,” he stated in a message.
The fashion stars aren’t the only celebrities supporting New York’s COVID-19 outbreak. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos made a $1 million donation to the New York Governor’s Office to fund the costs for more ventilators as well as to WIN, an organization that runs 11 women’s shelters throughout New York City.
