Pink Reveals She Tested Positive For Coronavirus, Donates $1M To Aid

Pink is sharing her experience with COVID-19 (coronavirus) to encourage fans to stay safe — and stay inside.

On Friday (April 3), the “What About Us” musician revealed she had tested positive for the novel disease just two weeks ago. Taking to Instagram, the star recalled how she and her 3-year-old son, Jameson, had been experiencing coronavirus symptoms, but has since learned she no longer has the virus after recently being tested.

“Two weeks ago my three-year old son, Jameson, and I are were showing symptoms of COVID-19. Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive,” she wrote with a picture of her alongside her baby boy. “My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative.”

“This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities,” she continued, before pledging a massive donation to help medical staff combat the wide-spreading disease.

In honor of her mother Judy, the “So What” star donated “$500,000 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia,” where Judy worked for 18 years. Additionally, Pink gave another $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund to the healthcare heroes on the front lines.

Nationwide, there are over 277,600 confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 12,000 of those cases belong to California, where at least 285 have died from the disease.
