Grandmother sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to herself during quarantine
April 13, 2020
A grandmother, Norma Gregorio, who just turned 88 had to spend her birthday alone due to self-quarantine and did what she could by singing “Happy Birthday” to herself and sharing it online with her family. Her granddaughter, Jessica Kerrigan, then preceded to share it on Tik Tok.
"[Our family] sent her a flower cake from 1-800-Flowers. She was very appreciative and she just decided to record herself singing 'Happy Birthday,' and emailed it to me and my family," Kerrigan told “Good Morning America.”
The video has now reached more than 8 million views online and nobody knew that grandma was to become a star.
Her grandmother responded by stating that she’s not a star, she’s a galaxy to Kerrigan.
"It was my birthday and I was here by myself. My granddaughter and daughter sent me a cake," said Gregorio to “Good Morning America.” "I decided to [record myself singing] because I know how to do it. I'm 88, but I can Skype, WhatsApp and TikTok."
