Ellie Goulding played wedding singer this weekend for the sweetest cause.

A couple in the United Kingdom received the surprise of their lives when the musician crashed their virtual wedding to soundtrack the lovebirds’ first dance. As newlyweds Hayley Pitman and Harvey Skelton were live-streaming their nuptials from home amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Goulding popped into the broadcast to perform a special acoustic version of her smash hit “Love Me Like You Do.”

“Congratulations Harvey and Hayley. You’re both heroes and we all love you,” Goulding told the couple in the video, before launching into the performance.

According to For Better For Worse, who coordinated the virtual wedding via their “Love in Lockdown” campaign, the NHS nurse and her husband, a rugby community development officer, were expected to get married last week. Sadly, the couple had to postpone their wedding celebration until October due to the global health crisis. In launching the fundraising campaign, the organization strives to raise £2,000 for NHS Charities Together, which comprises of over 250 not-for-profit organizations around the UK that assist hospitals.

The “Burn” songwriter knows all about the importance of wedding days. A year after announcing her engagement to boyfriend Caspar Jopling, the couple married at York Minster in August 2019.

As of Monday morning (April 20), the United Kingdom has more than 120,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with over 16,000 deaths related to the novel virus.
