Ryan Hurd And Maren Morris Chose Their Baby's Name For This Sweet Reason

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd welcomed their son, Hayes Andrew Hurd, last month on March 23. In a recent interview, Hurd revealed how the baby's name was chosen saying it was "all Maren's decision."

"We stayed up really late one night a couple years ago, and I think we had too many drinks," Hurd explained. "Maren said, 'What would you name a boy if you had one?' and I was like, 'I always thought the name Hayes was cool' and she remembered it. I don't know why- maybe the double-H thing."

Hayes' middle name, Andrew, is also special to the couple. "[It's] my little brother's name that passed away a few years ago," Hurd says. "So, that was a really cool way to honor him and my family."

In the interview Hurd went on to give an update on Morris' health after giving birth to Hayes via C-section.

"She's excited to just not be pregnant anymore," he says adding, "It's a hard thing to come back from, especially when you have a C-section."

On Monday (April 20), Hurd released a new single, "Every Other Memory." The track, co-written by Hurd alongside Nathan Spicer and Cole Taylor, is a nostalgic-filled anthem about memories of a past lover.

"'Every Other Memory' just feels like such a nostalgic track," Hurd says. "It's so cool because it feels like each line in the song is almost like an emoji. It's a feeling and it's a picture that you can just really grab onto. The way the words came out, it just felt like each picture was really amazing."

Hurd's new single comes just about a week after Hurd shared a video covering Taylor Swift's "False God." The clip quickly caught Swift's eye, who gave her stamp of approval, replying, "Love this so much" alongside the praying hands emoji.

"Every Other Memory" follows Hurd's previous hit, "To A T," and is the first new music shared since releasing his Platonic EP last year. Take a listen to the new song in video below.
